October 14, 1936—July 2, 2020

SPARTA - Donna Mae (Randall) Kastberg, age 83, was escorted into her Lord’s arms on July 2, 2020, after a short stay at Mulder Health Care in West Salem, WI.

Donna was born in Sparta, WI, to Jean and Mabel Randall on October 14, 1936, fourth in a family of five siblings. She graduated from Sparta High in 1954 and shortly after, married her one true love on November 11, 1955. While raising three daughters, Donna began her career with 1st Bank of Sparta in 1962, as a part-time secretary, and through perseverance and sacrifice, became one of the first female bank presidents in the state. Donna took great pride in her hometown and was instrumental in the startup of many successful businesses. Boards on which she served include: The Morrow Home Foundation, Sparta Main Street, Board of Directors of Bankers Bank, St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation and The Barney Community Center Building Fund, to name a few.

Donna enjoyed her employees and those she encountered through the bank, community and boards she served. While she ran a business, she also helped make the family farm successful. Even if career training took her out of town at times and late at work with meetings, she always managed dinner every night, had a spotless house, something sweet for Warren, and a happy family. Donna loved to plan trips and the family took a vacation every summer; then, greater empty nest adventures with Warren. Family was important and there are many fond memories of holiday family reunions. Her potato salad was sought after and if you came to the house, she made sure you weren’t hungry.

Rarely idle, she was also active in Red Hatters, card club and outings with her daughters and sisters.

Donna was a believer and faithful Christian who was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sparta and served in the church in various capacities throughout the years.

Donna is survived by her husband, Warren; three daughters, Lori Ferries, Tracy Buccelli and Julie (Michael) Hogan; seven grandchildren, Ryan (Stephanie) Ferries, Erin (Nick) Guy, Jennifer Ferries, Sarah Hogan, Sam Hogan, Michael Buccelli, and Taylor Buccelli; and two great-grandchildren, Easton Ferries and Eva Ferries. She is further survived by her siblings, Gerald (Beverly) Randall, Carlyle Randall, Patricia Heser and Carol Thorsen. Her loved ones will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jean and Mabel Randall.

A private family funeral service will be held.

The family would like to invite friends to the Club Oasis in Sparta for a celebration of Donna’s life beginning at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 6. The family respectfully requests that anyone attending the celebration of life practice social distancing and face coverings are recommended.
