LINUS TRUMAN SULLIVAN
November 21, 1948—April 6, 2019
Linus Sullivan passed away Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the Veteran’s Administration Hospice Care in Tomah, WI, at the age of 70.
Linus was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Sparta, WI on November 21, 1948 to John and Louise (Brieske) Sullivan; the first sibling to be born in a hospital. He was raised on the family farm, and graduated with the Sparta Senior High Class of 1967. He joined the United States Air Force in 1969 and served four years stateside in Fort Lee, Virginia, and Kokomo, Indiana, during the Vietnam war. After returning home, he ran the rural Hilltop Grocery Store between Norwalk and Sparta on Hwy. 71 until it burned. In 1974, he became the owner of the Wilton Lanes Bowling Alley and Bar. When he left the bar, he began taking aerial photos for Scenic Concepts and traveled a lot for his job. Next, he decided to open LTS Photo Studio in Sparta in 1989, and he continued in that business until his death.
Linus loved to travel, and the West was his favorite destination, going by motorcycle and car many times. He enjoyed being the tour guide for many family members.
Linus was an active member of the Norwalk Lions Club since 1982, where he served as president from 1992-1993. He liked bowling, and loved playing softball. Linus sponsored numerous teams over the years, always with three or more Sullivan relatives playing, which spurred many “heated discussions” between brothers!
Linus is survived by two brothers: Donald (Charlene) and David (Kathie); and two sisters, Jenine Moe and Karen Lydon, who lived with him for over 20 years following the deaths of their husbands, all of the Sparta area; 11 nephews and nieces: Jeff (Mary) Sullivan, Shelly (Paul) Hobson, Mike (Brenda) Lydon, Terry (Tom) Arndt, Kelly (Ron) Loe, Chris (Kerry) Kerska, Jody (Bob) Phillips, Kevin (Jeanne) Lydon, Randy (Heidi) Sullivan, Colleen (Justin) Scholze, Brian (Kathy Kettle) Sullivan, and Corey (Karla) Sullivan.
Linus was preceded in death by his parents, John and Louise; brother, Francis; his sister-in-law, Evelyn (Lehner) Sullivan; and two brothers-in-law, John Moe and Jim Lydon.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 5th, at 1:00 p.m. at Club 16 in Sparta.
