   SPARTA - Loretta I. Miller, 98, of Sparta, passed away Monday, September 7, 2020, at the Morrow Memorial Home, Sparta. She was born July 24, 1922, to Ellis and Gertrude (Schmitz) Hohn in Sparta.

   Loretta attended Hohn School and graduated from Sparta High School in 1939. She married Norbert Miller on June 4, 1940, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sparta. She and Norbert farmed in the Cashton area. They moved to the Hohn farm in Leon Valley in 1954. They relocated in Sparta in 1994. Together they had two children, Bob and Linda. Loretta and Norbert liked to go on fishing trips to Oregon, California, Arizona and Florida; and they liked to go dancing. She loved to read books and crochet.

   Loretta worked in various stores for 64 years and retired from Jamesson Office Supply in 1987. She went back to work for KMS Hallmark, then Dee’s Hallmark. She retired for a second time when Dee’s was sold. She volunteered for St. Patrick’s Catholic Church rectory, the Morrow Home, and Mary Morrow’s Attic.

   Loretta is survived by two children, Linda (David) Myers and Robert (Barbara) Miller; grandchildren, Lori Krage (friend, Dave Laumb), Dave (Deb) Schultenover, Chris Schultenover, Tim (Missy) Schultenover, Julie Onshus and Mark Miller. She is further survived by her step-grandchildren, John (Jill) Peterson, Barry (Kim) Peterson, Amanda Peterson, Todd (Susan) Myers, Trudy (Rob) Joy, and Ryan (Kay) Myers; eight great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

   She was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert (Jan. 10, 2003); parents, Ellis and Gertie; sisters, Zora (Carlton) Schaitel, Marion (Art) Janzen, Ellis (Elma) Hohn and sister, Beverly Leis and her three children; an infant sister, Dorothy; grandson, Mike Onshus; granddaughter, Michelle Miller; great-grandson, Eric Schultenover; and a special niece, Bonnie (Hohn) Trones.

   A Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 11, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sparta, with Father Eric Berns officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

   Visitation for Loretta will be on Thursday, at the Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, from 5-7 p.m. with a Rosary service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. Face coverings are encouraged and social distancing will be observed.
