   SPARTA/HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, AR - Marie P. Tobin, age 85, of Sparta and formerly of Hot Springs Village, AR, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2020, at Gundersen Health System, La Crosse, WI.

   She was born on March 23, 1935, in Fayetteville, NC to David and Annie (Hales) Parker. Marie married CSM (Retired/Deceased) Thomas J. Tobin on April 4, 1954, in Laurinburg, NC. To this union, three daughters were born. They later divorced on July 25, 1990.

   As a military wife, Marie was active in many community organizations. She was Senior Adviser for the NCO Wives Club and Senior NCO Wife Representative on the P.X. and Commissary Board. She served on the Scholarship Fund Committee and Advisory Board of The Loan Closet and Wife Line. She did volunteer work for Vacation Bible School and the P.T.A. and was a Girl Scout Leader for five years. She worked on committees to better schools and assisted teachers when needed.

   Marie’s interests were gardening, reading, camping, fishing, music, dancing, theatrical plays and visiting historical places. She had a great love of all animals and wildlife and a great passion for Avian especially Eagles, Canada Geese and Mourning Doves. She was an avid follower of the Decorah Eagles in IA and Eaglecrest Wildlife in CA. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and special times with her grandson.

   Marie worked as a trainee sales clerk and cashier at the Post Exchange from 1972 to 1974 at West Point, NY. From 1980 to 1983, she worked as a Billeting Clerk for the Director of Engineering and Housing at Ft. Sheridan, IL. From 1990 to 1993 she worked as a Patient Aid at AMI National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs, AR.

   She is survived by her children, Gwen (Jerry) Huekels of Sparta, WI, Terry Tobin of Sparta, WI, and Brenda (Wm. Keith) Hopkins of Trevor, WI; and one grandson, Keith (Samantha) Hopkins of Twin Lakes, WI.

   She was preceded in death by her parents, Annie Mae and David Parker; two sisters, Novella Bronson and Rachel Culbreth; three brothers, Manny (Buddy) Parker, Wm. Floyd Parker and Julius (JV) Parker, all of NC.

   In accordance with Marie’s wishes, she will be cremated and a memorial and burial will be held at a later date.
