   SPARTA - Ronald Joseph Francis Laufenberg, age 72, passed away at home in Sparta on Monday, November 23, 2020, from complications with COPD and heart failure. He was born October 11, 1948, in Black River Falls, WI, to Godfrey and Octavia (Ruth) Laufenberg. He graduated from Alma Center High School in 1966. He worked for many years at Seguin Lumber in Alma Center. On September 13, 1980, he married Susan Bue in Alma Center. They moved to Sparta, WI, where Ron worked for Nuzum Lumber for several years and later was employed at Sparta Manufacturing. He retired from Sparta Manufacturing in 2006. Ron was an avid Packers fan and also enjoyed model trains and reading mystery thriller books. He also loved his Mountain Dew!!

   Ron is survived by his wife, Sue of Sparta; son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Amy of Evansville, WI, and two grandchildren, whom he adored, Breigh and Alden. He is further survived by his sisters, Teresa (Bruce) Spiegal of Granton, WI, Ruth Viner of Holmen, WI, and Louise (Dave) Stephenson of Verona, WI. Also surviving are his extended family, Dennis and Becky Bue of Grantsville, UT, Douglas and Doreen Bue of Onalaska, WI, Bruce and Debra Bue of Black River Falls, Wayne and Beth Bue of Black River Falls, Kimberly Matalas Stanely of Humbird, WI, and Dawn and John Griffin of Holmen; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

   Ron was preceded in death by his daughter, Miranda; his parents, Godfrey and Octavia; his brothers, Edward (Helen), Bernard (Dorothy), and John; his sister, Dorothy; his in-laws, Virgil and Erma Bue; brothers-in-law, Harland Viner, Michael Bue, and Byron (Mooch) Bue.

   A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sparta, with Father Eric Berns officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Alma Center.

   Family and friends are invited to call from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, and from 9 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the church.
