TOMAH- Alan L. Woodworth, 78, of Tomah and formerly of Sparta passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, as a result of a long battle with diabetes.

He joined the world with his twin sister Ellen on March 20, 1946, at the Sparta Hospital, the son of the late Donald and Mary (Standiford) Woodworth. He was one of 14 children and raised a lot of hell with all of them.

Alan attended Sparta High School prior to enlisting in the Air Force in 1963. He served with distinguished service for 20 years from 1963 until 1983. He was a lifetime member of Thomas Rooney VFW Post 1530, Grassman-Sowle-Larson-Senz American Legion Post #201 and Sparta Eagles Aerie 2833.

He married Peggy Gerke Brookman, July 19th of 2003 at their home in Tomah. They loved spending time  visiting family and friends, and making trips to as many casinos as Alan could find. He enjoyed searching and watching the deer, he enjoyed  fishing, drinking coffee and talking smack with whoever was at the table with him.  Alan could come across as kind of gruff, but he was a Teddy Bear inside.  He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Peggy, stepchildren Tina (Steve) Yagla, Neacia (Luis) Pacheco and Troy (Sandy) Brookman, 4 grandchildren Braden (Kyle); Briar (Angel) Khael and Isla, 1 great-grandchild, Klyde, his brother Dewitt Woodworth and sister Sheila Heinech, sisters-in-law, Kate Woodworth, Peggy (Richard) Wright, and a brother-in-law Steve Gray. He is further survived by numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers -in-law,  Jean (Ken) Womick, Nena (Odes) Clark, Betty (Carl) Sanders, Shirley (Chuck) White, Jane Woodworth, , Blanche (Marshall) Egebrecht, Sally Gray, Ellen (Mike) Ramech, brothers and sister-in-law,  Gary Woodworth, Donald “Red” Woodworth Jim (Mary Jane) Woodworth
