TOMAH - David Joel Swanson of Belvidere, Illinois, died peacefully at the Veterans home in Tomah, WI on Monday December 11, 2023.
David was born May 3, 1947 which made him 76 years old. He grew up in Belvidere with 3 siblings and many aunts, uncles, and cousins nearby.
After serving in Vietnam, David struggled as many did. He moved to Montana for a time to return to school and because he loved being outdoors and in the mountains. He was a traveler, a backpacker, a wildlife photographer, and a decent cook. He will be missed as a good friend, caring uncle, brother, and son.
David was not big on ceremony. There will be no funeral or memorial service. Instead perhaps visit a park or preserve near you. Take a hike or just enjoy the scenery and think of him.
