TOMAH - Hedy Luebchow Vincent was born in Oakland, California, on June 21, 1976. Her parents, Nancy A. (nee Luebchow) and Hernandez R. Daylo, had her baptized on July 4, 1976. They moved to Tomah, Wisconsin, in 1979, where they attended St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. They made Christian education a priority for Hedy and her two siblings to attend St. Paul Lutheran grade school, where she was confirmed in 1990. She continued her Christian education at Luther High School in Onalaska, WI. Before her graduation in 1994, Hedy enlisted in the U.S. Army. Later she attended Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN, and graduated in 2001, so she could teach others about Jesus and help them in their faith.

In 2004, Hedy met fellow soldier Jason Vincent. They shared a deep love for the military, fitness, movies, and family. They were married on February 11, 2006. On December 31, 2007, Jason Daylo Vincent, Jr. was born. Six months later Jason deployed for a year, during which time Hedy enlisted the help of her parents to assist in caring for “Juni.” Hedy and Jason understood what sacrifice meant, especially for family. Through the challenges, God blessed them and made them stronger together.

As a soldier, Hedy was a leader and an example of hard work and excellence. As a non-commissioned officer, she worked in transportation and logistics; she also served as a full-time recruiter and helped to guide a number of young people, not just in the military but also in life. For the last 12 years of duty, Hedy served as a commissioned officer. On June 23, 2023, she retired with the rank of Major, having served her country for 30 years.

Hedy was known for her physical and mental strength, but also her humility, humor, and compassion. She had a genuine and loving nature to nurture and inspire others to do their best, to glorify God, and to embrace challenges–physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. She believed and lived the key to overcoming life’s challenges: God’s promise of forgiveness and strength.

Hedy enjoyed taking care of and developing her God-given gifts of body and mind, pushing herself and others through her involvement with military physical training and CrossFit programs. She encouraged family, friends, and fellow soldiers to care for their gifts through fitness and nutrition, too. By the time she was diagnosed with glioblastoma in May, 2021, her faithful God had prepared her for the ensuing battles. While her physical and mental strength helped her to endure two surgeries and various treatments, God’s grace sustained her to remain faithful and courageous. On the evening of December 15, 2023, Hedy finished her earthly race and received her victor’s crown.

She is survived by her husband, Jason Vincent, and son, Jason Jr., of Eau Claire, WI; daughter, Baylee (and Grady) Frantz of Balko, OK; her mother, Nancy A. Daylo, of St. Joseph, MI; brother, Rev. Hernandez (and Nancy) Daylo, Jr. of St. Joseph, MI; sister, JoHannah (and Larry) Galbreath of Shrewsbury, PA; nine nieces, two nephews, and one grandson.

Hedy is preceded in death by her father, Hernandez R. Daylo.
