SPARTA - Jane Carol Chapiewsky, 90, of Sparta, WI, passed away Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, WI.  She was born April 22, 1933, to Walter and Alice (Erickson) Olson, in Cannon Valley, rural Cashton, WI.

On July 7, 1951, she was united in marriage to LaVern “Chip” Chapiewsky at the Portland Lutheran Church in Cashton, WI.  Together they farmed until 1960 when they moved to Leon.

Throughout her life, Jane dedicated herself to service, both professionally and personally. She worked diligently at Northern Engraving for many years. Jane’s caring nature led her to provide homecare for those in need, extending her warmth and support to numerous families. However, her favorite and most cherished role was that of a full-time grandmother, a job she performed with boundless love and dedication.

Jane’s faith was the cornerstone of her existence. She was a devout and active member of the Leon Congregational Church, where her presence was a constant source of inspiration. Her commitment to her faith was evident as she frequently led Bible Study sessions, passionately shared her insights, and was known for her gentle yet firm corrections to the pastor whenever necessary. Jane often expressed her deep love for Jesus, remarking that she had Jesus in her blood. Her passing on Easter was a poignant reflection of her profound spiritual connection.

Jane’s interests extended beyond her religious devotion. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, embracing moments with her family, appreciating the beauty of nature, and always seeking ways to enrich her spirit and the spirits of those around her.

Jane is survived by her children, Mary (Fred) VonRuden of Sparta, WI, and Walter Chapiewsky of Leon, WI; sister, Joyce Johnson of Cataract, WI; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband, LaVern in 2005; son, LeRoy Chapiewsky in 1994; a granddaughter, Heather Chapiewsky in 1971; and brother, James Olson; along with her parents Walter and Alice Olson.

Funeral Services for Jane will be held, Saturday, April 6, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at the Leon Congregational Church.  Pastor Don Ehler will officiate.  Private family burial will be held in the Melvina Cemetery.  Family and friends are invited for visitation on Saturday, April 6, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the church in Leon.
