   TOMAH - Karen Ann Hess (Breininger) of Tomah, WI, died on Jan. 4, 2024, at her home after a brief battle with brain cancer.

   She was born Apr. 24, 1948, in Reedsburg, WI, but spent her childhood in Cazenovia before marrying Dan Breininger on Oct. 11, 1969, and moving to Richland Center, WI, where they lived for 15 years before settling in Tomah, WI, in 1984.

   She is predeceased by her parents, Ray & Helen Hess, and her brother, Raymond Hess. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Dan, and their three children, Kimberly and husband Andreas Starling of Orlando, FL, Jason and his wife Mary (Brodersen) of Moreland Hills, OH, and Andrew and wife Brittany (Longstaff) of Ontario, WI. Karen is also survived by three grandchildren, Jackson Starling, Grace and Clara Breininger, and brother Richard Hess of Waunakee, WI.

   Karen graduated from Weston High School in 1966 and worked happily for many years for Tomah dentists Chitwood Nicol and Matthews.

   A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, 11:30 A.M, at Queen of the Apostles Parish, 303 W. Monroe St., Tomah. Monsignor David Kunz will officiate. Immediately following Mass there will be a reception in the church’s Fellowship Hall. Burial will be held at a later date.

   Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 9:30 A.M until the time of service at the church.

   A Parish Rosary will be held at Queen of the Apostles Parish on Wednesday, at 9:30 A.M.
