   CASHTON - Marie M. Whitehead, 98, of Cashton, WI, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Springbrook Assisted Living in Onalaska, WI. She was born to Anton and Anna (Marx) Leis, December 8, 1924, and grew up in Brush Creek, rural Cashton.

   Marie was united in Holy Matrimony to Glenn Whitehead April 22, 1947 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Pine Hollow, WI. Marie and Glenn were committed to being stewards of the land. Together they farmed for over 40 years. She found great joy tending to her beautiful flower beds. Marie’s faith was steadfast and strong and they were active members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She cherished family gatherings and loved being with them.

   Marie is survived by six children, Keith (Lorraine) of Viroqua, WI, Glenn (Victoria) of Sparta, WI, Barbara (Stanley) Burggraf of Monroe, WI, Jim (Pat) of Cashton, WI, Jeffrey of Cashton, WI, and Ron (Carole) of West Salem, WI; brother, Kenneth (Lil) Leis of Madison, WI; sister-in-law, Rose Mary Leis of Pewaukee, WI; 24 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; along with many loving nieces, and nephews.

   She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn; five brothers, Herb (Virginia) Leis, LeRoy (Joyce) Leis, Walter (Margaret) Leis, Paul (Donna) Leis, and James Leis; sister, Rose (John) Hundt; an infant sister, Elnora Leis; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leo (Amanda) Whitehead, Leona (Al) Strom, Clara (Lester) Hanson, Catherine (Doug) Bernhardt, William Whitehead, Joyce (Eddie) Rushing, and Louis (Evelyn) Whitehead.

   A Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be held Thursday, December 7, 2023, 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cashton, WI. Monsignor Robert Hundt will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pine Hollow Cemetery, rural Cashton. Family and friends are invited for visitation Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

   Memorials may be given to a charity of choice in Marie’s name. Marie’s family would like to thank all of the good people who helped care for their mom, especially Dr. Mary Bassing and Hospice nurse, Jennifer.  The comfort and care provided was superb, thank you.
