KENDALL- Myrna E. (Zirk) Fauska, 86 of Kendall passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at her home.  She was born on April 10, 1938, to Herbert and Grace (Sweet) Zirk in St. Paul, MN. Growing up, Myrna would spend her summers with her grandparents on the Zirk family farm.  After high school, she attended Wartburg College, Waverly, IA. Upon graduation she returned to the St. Paul area working as a social worker for the State of Minnesota.  On October 9, 1971, Myrna was united in marriage to David C. Fauska. Myrna took a leap of faith motivated by love and adventure transitioning from a young city girl to country girl. It was in that country living that Myrna immersed herself in the role of a farmer’s wife and an active member within the Kendall Community.  A faithful and devoted member of Evangelical Free Church of Kendall, Myrna was an active participant in many church activities, assisting with funeral meals and bookkeeping were just a few of the many.

Being blessed with a beautiful singing voice, Myrna shared her love of music and singing with the world.  Often singing for church services and functions, funerals, weddings and just about any time she was giving the opportunity.  She was a member of the Sweet Adeline’s along with other local singing groups.    Throughout the years, Myrna worked part-time as a rural mail carrier, often assisted with the local elections.  She was a member of the Kendall Happy Homemakers and a member of the Red Hat Society.

Myrna was also an avid reader and writer.  She was a frequent visitor to the Kendall library and a Book Club member.  For several years, Myrna was an author of South Side News, keeping the local folks up to date on local news in the valley.  In her last article, Myrna shared, “Once upon a time, I read somewhere that when you are experiencing good things in life, it is a blessing to know Who to thank.  Another little saying is when life hands you sour lemons, make lemonade.  No matter what happens to us, God will see us through if we put our faith and trust in Him.  I have been known to ask the Lord for patience and do it NOW!  His answers aren’t always as immediate as I want them to be, but I’ve found that when I look back on the past 86 years, His blessing far outnumber anything else.  Another saying I’ve learned is that whatever the question is, Jesus is the answer.  In all circumstances, praise the Lord.”

As for today, Myrna is walking in Paradise.

She is survived by 9 nieces and nephews, countless great nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, Darlene Martalock of Ontario and Margery (Joe) Collins of Black River Falls, and a special friend, Christopher Young.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, David, sister, Lois Hansen, brothers-in-law, Elmer Hansen, Frank Martalock, nephew, Jeff Martalock, and niece, Kathryn LaCanne.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, 11:00 AM, Evangelical Free Church, 104 E. Hall Street, Kendall.  Pastor John Olson will officiate.  Burial will be in the Glendale Cemetery, Kendall.  Relatives and friends are invited for a time of visitation on Saturday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the services.
