SPARTA - Allen Wilmer Huber passed away peacefully surrounded by family at home on Sunday, May 14, 2023, after a short, but hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born on April 19, 1954, in Sparta to Wilmer and Winnifred (Lash) Huber.
Allen met Diane Baumer in 1979. They were married on June 27, 1981, and had 2 sons. Allen worked at Country Farm Supply for 43 years.
Allen was a proud father and grandfather who enjoyed quality time with family. He loved to give his grandkids 4-wheeler rides and take them mini-golfing. He was their best sports cheerleader, chauffeur to the park, and life lesson teacher.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Allen took many trips hunting out west, snowmobiling up north, and ice fishing with family and friends. He especially enjoyed being at his family farm, where he grew up and continued to farm with his own family. You could find him at the farm cutting wood or having one of many stubborn talks with the donkey. He never missed a day at the farm, until his cancer diagnosis. Most recently, he enjoyed traveling the world with his wife Diane.
Allen is survived by his wife, Diane of almost 42 years; sons Kevin (Erin) of Sparta and Daniel (Heidi) Huber of La Crosse; grandchildren Kolby, Avery, and Grayson Huber; brother Steven (Diane) Huber of Cataract; brothers-in-law Ronnie (Nancy) of Aiken, South Carolina, and Russell Baumer of Kendall; mother-in-law Betsy Baumer of Sparta; as well as many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer and Winnifred (Lash) Huber; father-in-law Julius Baumer; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at New Life Assembly of God Church, Sparta, with Pastor Brock Williamson officiating. Burial will be at the Cataract Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 5 pm until 7 pm on Friday, May 19, 2023, at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation Sparta and from 1 pm until 2 pm on Saturday at the church.
