Axil Eugene Lee Verken, 3-month-old son of Diana Youngs and Daimon Verken passed away on Monday, April 17, 2023.  He was born on January 10, 2023 and was the happiest little boy with the most beautiful smile that would light up the room.  Swing and bouncing in his Jumparoo, watching the bright colors of movies, and listening to music always brought that smile to his face.

   He is survived by his mother Diana Youngs of Tomah and her family, grandparents, Holly (Dion) Stanton of Tomah and Eric Youngs of Warrens, great grandparents, Robin (Kevin) Hoppmann, Diana McCann, Juanita (Mike) Johnson and Donald Youngs, great great grandfather, James Johnson, aunts and uncles, Korey Hoppmann, Devin Youngs, Gabriel Youngs, Destiny Phillips, Easton Youngs-Squires, and a special great aunt and uncle, Adriane and Matt Joseph.  He is further survived by special friends, Marcus Hauser, and Tena Hauser along with great aunts and great uncles, cousins, and other relatives.

   His father, Diamon Verken of Hillsboro and his family, grandparents, Travis (Amy) Verken of Hillsboro, great grandparents, Renee (Dave) Tweed of Northfield, Jake Hemmersbach of Whitehall, Joan Verken of Sparta, Angie (Steve) Iverson and Gary (Patty) Phillips all of Black River Falls, aunts and uncles, Brant Peters, Trenton Clark, Thayron Turner, Aiden Gates, Emma Phillips, and Huck Verken.  He is further survived by great aunts and uncles, cousins, and other relatives.

   He was preceded in death by paternal grandmother, Angela Hemmersbach Verken, paternal great grandfather, Randy Verken, and maternal uncle, Wyatt Phillips.

   A Maternal Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2023, 2:00 PM at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau Street, Tomah.  Pastor Robert Streeter will officiate.  Burial will be at a later date in the New Lisbon City Cemetery.  Relatives and friends are invited for a time of visitation on Sunday at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service.

   A Paternal Memorial Prayer service and balloon release will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023, 6:00 PM at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau Street, Tomah.  Relatives and friends are invited for a time of visitation on Saturday at the funeral home from 4:00 PM until the time of the service.

   A Paternal Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, starting at 3:00 PM at Lunda Community Park 1400 Tyler Street, Black River Falls.
