SPARTA - Dale J. Stockel, 79, of La Crosse, died Sunday, December 20, 2020, at Hillview Health Care Center, La Crosse.
Dale was born in Portland Township, WI, to Valery and Alice (Haugen) Stockel on February 21, 1941. He attended West Portland School until grade 8. He moved to Sparta in 1954 and attended St. Patrick’s School. He graduated from Sparta High School in 1959. Dale worked at the Sparta Bakery. He served in the US Army and then Okinawa. He also worked for the Trane Company in La Crosse.
Dale is survived by his sisters, La Vonne, Kay and Mary; his brothers, Alan, Tom, Donald, Vincent, Russel, Rodney, and Frank.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Valery and Alice; a brother, David; and a sister, Virginia.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 26, at the Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, with Fr. Eric Berns officiating. Military honors provided by VFW Post 2112, Sparta, will follow at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later time in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park, La Crosse.
