TOMAH - David R. Turner, 66, of Tomah, died Thursday, June 30, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born November 2, 1955 to Harold and Letitia (Chandler) Turner in St. Paul, MN. His family moved to the Mauston area, and he attended the Mauston High School.

   He was united in marriage to Mary Slater on October 4, 1974. He worked in the moss beds, at Fort McCoy, and most recently for the Ho-Chunk Nation in maintenance. David enjoyed fishing with his children and grandchildren on Castle Rock Lake, on Lake Tomah, and around the Warrens area. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.  His grandchildren will always remember grandpa’s storytelling and teasing. He will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved him.

   He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary of Tomah, 4 children, David Turner of Black River Falls, Mistie (Larry) Baldwin of Wyeville, Tony Turner of Tomah, and Richard (Mandy)  Turner of LaCrosse, 11 grandchildren, Trysta Johnson, Torlea (Cherokee) Turner, Drake Turner, Chandler Turner, Larry Baldwin, Anthony (Maddy) Turner, Ethan Fitzpatrick-Turner, Delilah Turner, London Turner, David Turner, and Samuel Turner, 2 great-grandchildren, Marley and Zen, 5 brothers and sisters, Alice Mallyon of Az, Janet Miller of Lyndon Station, Delores (Gary) Barr of Mauston, Sandy Turner of Mauston, Terry Lynn (Dave) Madden of Elroy, a sister-in-law Kathy Turner of Mauston, many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, close friends April and Tom Dodte, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews and other relatives and friends.

   He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Charlie and Bob Turner, and 2 brothers-in-law Jim Miller and Darryl Mallyon.

   A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, 2:00 P.M. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St. Tomah. Bruce Milleman will officiate. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Mather.
