Gary L. Degler, age 77, formerly of Tomah, WI, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023, at the Timberwood Lodge Assisted Living in Lake Mills, Wisconsin.  He was born November 24, 1945 to LaVern and Opal (Meacham) Degler in Dane County, WI. 

   He was united in marriage to Gladys Crape on February 28, 1965, in Arlington.  Gary worked for Usemco in Tomah for many years as a Welder/Fabricator; and especially enjoyed playing the guitar and singing, fishing, and watching and cheering on all of the Wisconsin sports teams.

   He is survived by his children, Julie (Paul) Hancock of Tomah, Brenda (Kevin) Voltz of Palmyra and Cheryl (Robert) Peroutka of Richfield; grandchildren, Sydney (Joshua) Connor, Harli (Matt) Lewis, Nicole (Jason) Kausalik, Hunter Voltz, Allison Peroutka and Amanda Peroutka; great grandson, Aidan Connor; a great granddaughter, Regan Connor; sister, Jean (Brad) Gordon of Manitowoc, WI; sister- in- law, Marie (Jimmy) Thomas; brother-in-law, Edward (Ellen) Crape; and many nieces and nephews. 

   He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys; his granddaughter, Holly; brother, Terry; sisters, Sheri Young and Verna Bigelow; brothers-in-law, Kenny Young and Jack Bigelow; and his parents, LaVern and Opal. 

   Private family services will be held at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah.  Pastor Daren Deford will officiate.  Burial will be held in the Wood Cemetery in Tomah.  The Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be offered at www.torkelsonfuneralhome.com
