Kaduc leads Cashton at Darlington Invitational

Cashton freshman Mateya Kaduc is making a strong first impression in her high school cross country career.

Kaduc finished in 19th place overall in the girls’ race with a time of 22 minutes, 15.9 seconds at the Darlington Invitational Saturday, September 4 at Darlington High School in Darlington.

Elsewhere in the race for the Eagles, freshman Isabell Korn (23:36.3) came in 38th, sophomore Kate Gronemus (24:46.5) was 56th, junior Chelsie Paulsen (26:06.4) took 73rd and freshman Makayla Gooselaw (27:00.7) finished in 78th.

In the boys’ race, sophomore Dylan Kaduc was Cashton’s top finisher in 34th with a time of 19 minutes, 42.9 seconds.

Other Eagles runners included sophomore Colton Lee (21:21.0) in 77th, sophomore Gabe Von Ruden (21:43.3) in 87th, junior Jeremiah Woolhouse (21:45.3) in 89th, freshman Luke Clements (21:46.1) in 90th and freshman Sean Lukaszewski (21:57.3) in 94th.

Dodgeville/Mineral Point finished atop the team standings in both the boys’ and girls’ races. The boys scored 59 points, the girls 49.

Individually, Mt. Horeb’s Joseph Stoddard won the boys race with a time of 16:59.8 and Kayci Martensen (Southwestern/Cuba City/Benton), the two-time defending Division 2 state champ, was first for the girls with a time of 19:05.
