Level 3 sex offender released in Sparta

Posted

The Sparta Police Department released information on Wednesday pursuant to Wis. Statute 301.46, which authorizes law enforcement agencies to inform the public of a sex offender’s release when, in the discretion of the agency, the release of the information will enhance public safety, awareness and protection.

The individual, 50-year-old Gassid Hial-Naimah Al-Chimamlah, formerly of Tomah, had been convicted of sexually motivated crimes against adult females in Wayne, MI in 2016 and again in 2021 in Monroe County.

On March 30, 2021, Al-Chimamlah was sentenced in Monroe County Circuit Court to one year in state prison and five years of extended supervision after he was found guilty of third-degree sexual assault.

Al-Chimamlah was scheduled to be released from incarceration on Tuesday, October 19 and will be living at 1000 Central Ave in Sparta.

The notice released by Sparta PD is not intended to increase fear, rather it is law enforcement’s belief that an informed public is a safer public. Sex offenders have always lived within local communities, but it was not until Wisconsin’s Sex Offender Registration and Community Notification Laws were enacted that law enforcement was able to share information with the community.

Al-Chimamlah will be under supervision through the State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections. He has multiple special conditions of release and will be a lifetime registrant of the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry.

The Sparta PD and Chief of Police Emilee Nottestad would like to remind the public that citizen abuse of this information to threaten, intimidate or harass registered sex offenders will not be tolerated.

The Sparta Police Department released information on Wednesday pursuant to Wis. Statute 301.46, which authorizes law enforcement agencies to inform the public of a sex offender’s release when, in the discretion of the agency, the release of the information will enhance public safety, awareness and protection.
