Sparta Show Choirs blazing a winning trail

Posted

Both the Sparta Middle School and High School Show Choirs have been lighting up the circuit, over the past few weeks. The Herald reported on the Middle School, and how this was their first year ever even having a team to go and perform. Skyler Erickson and Camie Schneider, co-directors of the two groups, have been an adrenaline rush and a dopamine enhancer for the performers and audiences alike, causing judges to verbally state that Sparta is now on their radar.

The Sparta High School Show Choir, Upstage Adrenaline, went to Sauk Prairie this past weekend and performed their way to a 1st Runner-Up trophy. As amazing as that was, it was not the only high accolade bestowed upon the team. Another high award was handed over to the team, for Outstanding Choreography. Choreographer, Jordan Webster Moore, from Iowa, was the genius behind the movements. “There are no words, and even if there were, there wouldn’t be enough to describe the amount of pride I have in this group,” Moore stated. “Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would get the opportunity to take this brand-new varsity group, out of Wisconsin, and help them explode out into the show-choir world, as much as this year has showed.” Moore went on to thank Camie Schneider, Skyler Ray Erickson and Michelle Schwarz, assistant director for the High School ensemble.

The Sparta Middle School Show Choir, which is recognized as “Adrenaline Rush,” in their competitions, followed up their first place showing at Viterbo 101, with a trip to West Salem’s “Wonderstruck,” where they earned the title of Grand Champions. Adrenaline Rush would finish their final competition, held at Central High School in La Crosse, billed as the “Grand River Invitational,” with a place 5th finish, out of 9 teams. Their year is done, as far as competitions go, but they will be performing at the Sparta Spectacular.

The Sparta Spectacular, being held on March 25th, will be the end-of-the-season home showcase. It will include a dinner beforehand. The show will be opened by the Sparta High School Show Choir, Upstage Adrenaline. They will showcase a never-seen-before number. Other performances, for the evening, will feature a group consisting of grades 1 through 4, going by “Burst of Adrenaline.” Along with “Burst of Adrenaline,” another ensemble, from grades 5 through 8, going by “Adrenaline in the Making,” will have a marquee performance as well.

The Sparta Spectacular will also include all of the solo-competition performers, an alumni number and a showband performance. There will even be a parent number, which is a testament to the backing the students receive from home. The exact time and cost to attend the Sparta Spectacular has not yet been set.
