   Tomah - Virginia K. Picard, age 79, of Tomah, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at the Mayo Health System in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She was born June 17, 1943, to Rolland and Leola (Gregoroff) Griffin in Sparta, Wisconsin. Virginia was united in marriage to Charles J. Picard on July 14, 1962.

   Virginia’s world was centered around her family.  She was always giving to others before herself, a selfless woman who will be forever remembered by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Virginia loved doing puzzles with her husband, shopping and crafting with her daughters and sisters, but most of all, spending time with family, especially on “her holidays”, Christmas and New Year’s Eve.  During any family gatherings she really loved playing poker and filling up her coin purse.

   She is survived by her husband, Charles; children, David Picard of Tomah, Cathy (Steve) Bernhardt of Tomah, Susan (Daniel) Wilbanks of Tomah, Andrew (Traci) Picard of Oconto Falls, and Michele Picard of Tomah; grandchildren, Kimberly (Matthew) Robertson, Tyler (Jonna) Bernhardt, Nathan (Elizabeth) Wilbanks, Nehemiah (Carrie) Wilbanks, Ricardo Castro, Nicholas (Diana Verway) Wilbanks, Deazman Picard, Angel (Bryon) Kelly, Jesse Picard, and Zander Rogers; great grandchildren, Lillian, Hannah, Emily, Aaron, Arianna, Sawyer, Oliver, Sebastian, Mya, Zelma, Zoey, Zaylee, Natalie, Jonathan, Ava, Masiey, Trent, Seth, Layla, Brennan, and Kaelyn; brothers and sisters, Howard (Lynn) Griffin, Veva (Robert) Knutson, Vernon (Janet) Griffin, and Lisa Griffin; brothers in law and sisters in law, Barb Griffin, Shiela Picard, Janice Picard, James (Carol) Picard, Thomas (Jean) Picard, Dale (Kathy) Picard, Senator David O’Connell, and Kathleen Nance.

   She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Danielle Castro; brothers, Eugene Griffin, and Roger (Bernadine) Griffin; and brothers in law and sisters in law, Joseph (Delores) Picard, Richard Picard, Russell Picard, Anadine O’Connell, and Irene Foss.

   Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 9, 2023, 11:00 a.m., at Queen of the Apostles Parish in Tomah, Wisconsin. Monsignor David Kunz will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Tomah, Wisconsin. Family and friends are invited for a visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Thursday.  The Torkelson Funeral Home of Tomah is assisting the family with arrangements.
