WOODSVILLE - Mary “Mollie” Catherine Jensen, 70, of Woodville, passed away with her family by her side at Mayo Hospital in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on Friday December 8th, 2023 after an aggressive battle with cancer.

Mollie was born at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, on January 8th, 1953 and was raised by her mother, Theresa Nichols, and stepfather, Lynn “Sam” Nichols, in Sparta, Wisconsin. She graduated from Sparta High School in 1971 and soon moved to California. Prior to moving to California, Mollie met her soul mate, Dale Jensen, and was soon lovingly persuaded into returning to Wisconsin. On June 2, 1972, the pair was united in marriage in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The couple was blessed with two children, Michael and Kristin. Mollie’s family was fortunate in that she was able to stay at home until the children were older. Later, Mollie worked in the main office of Hudson Medical Center, and then worked with her dear friends at Kramer Accounting and later Feuerhelm-Langer Accounting. Mollie enjoyed reading, genealogy, and traveling; and cherished the time she was able to spend with friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She never failed to make others laugh with her quick-witted and facetious sarcasm, often leaving people surprised with her commentary. They had no choice but to laugh and roll with it. She maintained her poise and humor even when faced with the battle she suffered recently. Mollie remains in the hearts of her husband of 51.5 years, Dale Jensen; children, Michael (Jennifer) Jensen and Kristin (Scott) Newton; six grandchildren, Matthew, Luke, Avalon and Savannah Jensen, and Brandon and Madelyn Newton; brother, Steve Hathcock; sister, Barbara Schedler; brother-in-law, Gary Jensen; her adored aunt, Barbara Hoffman; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friends.                         She is preceded in death by her mother, Theresa Nichols; stepfather, Lynn Nichols; father-in-law, Ray Jensen; mother-in-law, Lillian Jensen; brothers, William Hathcock and Samuel Nichols; sisters Jean Powers and Ellen Nichols; brother-in-law, Roger Jensen; and niece, Juanita Powers.

To honor the life and legacy of Mollie, a gathering of friends and family will be held on Friday December 22, 2023 at 2-4 p.m. at O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton Street, Baldwin, WI 54002. We would like to extend a very heartfelt “thank you” to the medical staff at Mayo Health Systems in Eau Claire, especially the nursing teams working on 3rd and 4th floors. We are forever grateful for Dr. Ann Hudson, Dr. Villy Yankova, and Dr. Tomasz Okon—their compassion, care, and support go above and beyond what would be expected from a provider. And, last but not least, we would like to share the most sincere appreciation to Kelley Gaedtke-Farber from the Oncology team for providing the most exceptional compassion and kindness possible-a true angel in Mollie’s care. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
