   SPARTA - David G. Schuster of Sparta, Wisconsin passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on April 4th, 2024 after a 4-month battle with liver cancer.

   He was born August 9th, 1964 in Chicago, Illinois before moving to the Sparta area. David completed the Airframe & Powerplant program through Winona State in 1984 pursuant to his passion for aviation. David then served honorably in the United States Air Force for 21 years where his assignments brought him to the Philippines, New Mexico, Okinawa, and Belgium. Upon retirement from the Air Force in 2007, David worked with Badger State Industries in Black River Falls and New Lisbon before fully retiring in December of 2022.

   David was admired for his calm demeanor, wisdom, and deadpan sense of humor. His hobbies and passions included camping, aviation, scale models, shooting sports, history, and music. If he wasn’t spending quality time with family, he would often be found at home reading a book, listening to music, or serenely sitting on the patio.

   David is preceded in death by his father Walter V. Schuster and his cousins Richard Lukasik and Matthew Schuster.

   David is survived by his mother Judith (Lynn) Schuster; his wife of 33 years Rowena (Pangilinan) Schuster; brother Angel Schuster and four sisters Loreen Abbott, Donna Ruedy, Carolyn McKee, and Ann Richards; son Andrew Schuster, daughter Nicole Kast, and son-in-law Kyle Kast; 1 expected granddaughter; 21 nieces and nephews. He loved his family dearly.

   Visitation will be held at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home from 5:00PM to 7:00PM on Tuesday April 9th.

   A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00PM April 10th at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sparta followed by burial with full military honors provided by American Legion Post 100 and VFW Post 2112 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery.
