TOMAH - Edward D. Linenberg, 76 of Tomah, was called to fix the approach up to the Pearly Gates on Thursday, December 28, 2023, surrounded by his children.

He was born on January 28, 1947, to Duane and Evelyn (Wood) Linenberg at his grandparents’ house in the Township of LaGrange. On June 10, 1972, he was united in marriage to Patricia “Pat” Miller. Edward worked for Farmer Construction for 45 years before retiring in 2012. He was always called to do specialty jobs which included the steps at St. Mary’s, the Tomah Milwaukee St. project, foundation for the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, and the home his children grew up in, from the ground up. He was the person that people requested to get the job done right. Stories of what the grandkids remember about Papa Ed are riding in the Model A and learning to drive stick shift, picking raspberries at Grandma Evelyn’s, spending Father’s Day weekend at Jelly Stone in Warrens for the yearly car shows and his amazing campfire cooking. He took great pride in teaching his children Mutt, Jeff and Turdball a good work ethic and how to just walk it off and rub some dirt in it.

He was a member of the Wizards of Rods Car Club. He enjoyed restoring old vehicles, including his Model As, which he always said he would be buried in. He was fun, a big kid at heart his whole life. He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Pat Linenberg, of Tomah, children, Christi (Cory) Burkhalter of Kendall, Melissa (Douglas) O’Rourke and Brian (Beth) Linenberg both of Tomah, his grandchildren, Kirsten (Cole), Cole Elizabeth (Eric), Mckenzie, Kyle (Ashlee), Michael, Case, Mason, Conor and Callen, great- grandchildren, Taytum Lynn, Reiner Dean Edward, Emma Jo and Oaklynn Mae, brothers and sisters, David (Mary) Linenberg of Warrens, Richard (Alice) Linenberg of Tomah and Cindy (Paul) Marten of Tomah, and Brother-in-law, Bruce Miller. He is further survived by nieces, nephews and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Duane and Evelyn, mother-in-law, Arlene Miller, father-in-law, William Miller and many damn good dogs.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, 12 PM (Noon), at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., Tomah. Family and friends are invited for a time of visitation at the funeral home at 10 AM until the time of service. Pastor Dawn Lindberg will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah.
