James Robert Pirnat, affectionately known as Dad, Grandpa and Jimmy, passed away peacefully in his home on April 6, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on March 14, 1947, in Tomah, Wisconsin, to Myrtle I. Sell and John Pirnat, Jimmy’s life was marked by significant achievements and contributions.

After graduating from Tomah High School in 1965, Jimmy embarked on a journey with the United States Air Force in 1966. Serving as an Equipment Operator, he bravely served in the Vietnam War, completing his tour of duty in early 1970.

In early 1970, Jimmy relocated to Las Vegas and joined the Labors International Union, local 872, in July of the same year. His dedication and expertise led him to participate in numerous building projects across the city, including the iconic Tropicana, Luxor, and Stratosphere. Jimmy’s unwavering commitment to his craft and his pride in being a member of Labors Local 872 lasted for nearly 55 years.

In 1978, Jimmy met and fell in love with his wife, Donna. Together, they built one of the pioneering homes in the development of Green Valley in 1979. Their love story endured until Donna’s passing in September 2013, leaving Jimmy deeply affected but resilient. Despite the loss, he remained active and engaged throughout his remaining years.

Jimmy is survived by his three daughters: Addie (Scott) of Boise; Brandy (Scott) of Las Vegas; and Wendy (John) of Las Vegas. He also has seven grandchildren: Mercedes, Krista, James, Ashley, Joshua, Alexis and Serenity. Additionally, he has two great grandchildren: Hugh and Cedar. Jimmy is further blessed with three brothers: Richard (Hai) of California; Billy (Patsy) Illinois; and Bobby of Wisconsin. He also has three nephews: Ryan of Colorado, Reed of Illinois, and Bobby of Wisconsin.

Jimmy’s interment will take place at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, located at 1900 Veterans Memorial Dr. in Boulder City, NV 89005. The ceremony will be held on May 16, 2025, at 8:40 a.m.
