SPARTA- Joan Christine Knott, 76, of Sparta, WI, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Rolling Hills Senior Living in Sparta.  Joan and her twin sister, Jane, were born January 24, 1948, to Christie J. and Jewell (Elder) Sanders, in Sparta, WI. 

Joan worked hard at a variety of different jobs in and around Sparta, WI. Joan was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sparta.  On July 27, 2002, she married her best friend, Clint Knott.  They would have celebrated 22 years of marriage in July. 

When she heard music, she would be the first one to be ready to dance, Joan loved polkas, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, and most music.  She also enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family and friends.

Joan is survived by her husband, Clint of Norwalk, WI; three daughters, Linda (Larry) Clark of Norwalk, Patty (Sheldon) Kleven of Sparta, and Michelle (Daniel) Cratton of Sparta; grandchildren, Lawrence (Samantha) Clark, Lloyd (Conrad Miller) Clark, Jesse (Casey Thurston) Mahlum, Brandon Mahlum, Trenton Kleven, Stephanie Gross, Deana Mahlum, Vincent (Alexis) Smith, Preston Cratton, and Nicholas Cratton; six great grandchildren; a sister, Wanda Smith of Sparta; brother, James (Renee) Sanders of Sparta; her first husband and father of her children, Lloyd Mahlum of Norwalk; special friend, Theresa Lawry; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; twin sister, Jane (James) Goetz, sister, Sandra Zebell; a great grandson, Lawrence Clark III; prior fiancé Ervin Schultz; and former son-in-law, Wayne Knapp.

Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at the Farmers Valley Cemetery, rural Sparta, WI.  Pastor Josh Buzbee will officiate.  Everyone is invited to Farmers Valley Cemetery at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the funeral home in Joan’s name.
