   Sparta - Norma L Brandau, 100, of Sparta, died April 22, 2023 exactly 2months shy of her 101th birthday at the Morrow Home under hospice care. She was born on June 22, 1922 to Alfred and Edna Buchholz in Wilton WI. She was one of 3 sisters and 1 brother. Norma was a lifelong resident of Sparta, WI.

   Norma married George Brandau on November 22 1944. She held numerous jobs. Working at the Wisconsin Child Center and Fort McCoy, where she worked in local purchase. She retired from there after over 20 years at age 66.

   Norma was an avid bowler. She bowled for Club Oasis for many years and attended state tournaments. She was also a golfer even owning her own golf cart and golfing into her 90s. She was a dedicated member of St. John’s Lutheran Church serving on the ladies aid.

   Norma is survived by her children, John (Mary) Brandau and Jean (William) Mcarthey; grandchildren, Jesica (Jen) Brandau, Jeremy (Breezy) Brandau, Garrett Mcarthey, Vicky Brandau, Ben (Jackie) Dumke, and Jacob (Amy) Brandau; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Vivian; brother, Raymond.

   She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; son, Joel; and sisters, Beulla and Eileen.

   The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Morrow Home and Gunderson Hospice for their compassionate care.

   A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at St. John’s Ev Lutheran Church, Sparta, with Reverend Micah Schoeneck officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

   Family and friends are invited for visitation from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta, and from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Memorials to the family are preferred. Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com
