   FENNIMORE - Pamela “Pam” Jean Shumate, age 71, passed away on Tuesday morning February 20, 2024, at her residence, with her beloved family by her side. She was born on January 4, 1953, in Sparta, WI; the daughter of Curtis and Phyllis (Fish) Burnham. Pam graduated from Sparta High School and then was united in marriage to Sam Shumate on September 11, 1971, in Sparta.

   Pam loved being able to stay home and raise her daughter Jeanne through the years. In 1985, she and Sam moved to Fennimore and after a few years, Pam became an employee of the Fennimore School District. She enjoyed her job working in food service along with maintenance through the summer months. Pam deeply enjoyed her relationships with her coworkers.

   Pam loved being at home, working in her flower beds in the spring and summer. She adored her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They always brightened her day. Pam was a huge Milwaukee Brewer and Wisconsin Badger Basketball fan. She loved her simple life, and always having her family by her side. 

   Pam is survived by her husband Sam of Fennimore; her daughter Jeanne (Randy) Henkel of Fennimore; three grandchildren: Seth (Jerica) Henkel of Fennimore, Nick (Serena) Henkel of Dodgeville, and Jacob Henkel (Haleigh Bratton-Bennett) of Fennimore; along with her two great grandchildren, Camden and Hadley Henkel; her Dog, Fred; two brothers, Ron (Donna) Burnham of Sparta and Randy (Rita) Burnham of San Jose, CA; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Burnham of Black River Falls and Fernie (Karl) Rouse of Green Bay; and her dear friends, Donna Henkel and Claudia O’Brien.

   Pam was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Linda Burnham; and two brothers, Donnie and Bobby Burnham.

   A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday February 26, 2024, at the Fennimore United Methodist Church in Fennimore, WI with burial to follow in the Prairie Cemetery rural Fennimore. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Monday morning.
