SPARTA - Patricia Mae Huizenga was born December 30, 1950, to Elwin and Alice Zwiefel of Sparta, WI. In 1988, she was united in marriage to Daniel Huizenga in Sparta.
Patricia was a nursing assistant at St. Mary’s Hospital in Sparta. She started working part time in 1968, and when she graduated in 1969 from Sparta Senior High School, she went full time until 1990. She left there, and worked at Sparta Brush Company until she retired.
In the summer, she enjoyed golfing with her mother, Alice, sister, Laurice and friend, Jeannie. In the winter, the four would play cards on Tuesdays. When her parents retired, the family got together and played cards on “Thirsty Thursday”.
Patricia enjoyed fishing tournaments with her husband, Dan. She enjoyed vacationing. Her favorite place to go, with her husband, sister, Delores, and brother-in-law Dan (from West Virginia) and friends, Stoney and Julie Felts, was Hawaii.
Most of all, Patricia loved her boys, John Middleton Jr. and Troy Middleton; step-daughter, Laurie Wohlhoefer, and step-son, Scott (Helen) Huizenga.
Her most prized possessions were her granddaughters, Kimber Wohlhoefer, Ella Middleton, and Teyla Middleton.
Patricia is survived by her husband, Daniel of Sparta; brothers, Dan (Kris) Zweifel of Onalaska, Larry (Lana) Zweifel of Sparta, Mark (Rose) Zweifel of Sparta; and sister, Laurice (Bill) Moskal of Almena; sons, John Middleton Jr. (special friend, Martha), and Troy Middleton of Sparta; and granddaughters, Kimber Wohlhoefer, Ella Middleton, and Teyla Middleton of Sparta.
Patricia passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Gundersen Lutheran in La Crosse, at the age of 72. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elwin and Alice Zwiefel; sister, Delores Hutchinson; and nephew Scott Langrehr.
A Funeral Service will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta, with Pastor Bruce Milleman officiating. A Eulogy will be given by her brother, Dan Zweifel.
A visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta. Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com
A celebration of life will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at The Zone in Sparta.
