SPARTA - Sandra “Sandy” J. Dwyer, 74, of Sparta, died on Monday, January 1, 2024 at her home. She was born on May 26, 1949 to Alvinza and Agnes (Dube) Pickens, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Sandy attended Epping High School in Epping, New Hampshire.
Sandy married Gary Dwyer on September 9, 1967 in Pittsfield, MA. They moved to Wisconsin and lived in La Crosse and Chaseburg, before moving to Sparta in 2002. Sandy was active in the Holy Trinity Boy Scout Program in La Crosse for several years. She worked as a CNA for St. Francis Nursing Home and Hospital for 32 years, until her retirement.
Sandy is survived by her husband, Gary; 4 sons, Dwayne (Kim), Doug (Jenny), Michael, and Storm (Leane).
She was preceded in death by her mother, Agnes; father, Alvinza; sister, Rita; brothers, Al, Roger, and Ronald; father-in-law, Lester Dwyer; mother-in-law, Delorys; and brother-in-law, Richard.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2024 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sparta, with Father Eric Berns officiating. Burial will be in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park, La Crosse.
Friends and family are invited for a Visitation from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta, and from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Monday at the church. Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com
