   TOMAH - Sean Edward Froelich, a beacon of kindness and a man of profound faith, passed away on the last day of the year, December 31, 2023, at the age of 44. Born on August 19, 1979, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, to John and Judy Froelich.

   A 1998 graduate of Tomah High School, Sean’s thirst for knowledge and justice led him to pursue further education. He demonstrated his commitment to learning and his passion for the law, first by earning a degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Wisconsin River Falls in 2002, and later, his Juris Doctor from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 2010. His academic achievements laid a solid foundation for a career dedicated to upholding the law and serving the community.

   Sean’s professional life was marked by his integrity and dedication. He began his career in law enforcement as an officer with the River Falls Police Department. His drive and commitment to justice led him to the legal arena, where he served as the District Attorney for Pierce County, Wisconsin, and later as the Eau Claire County Assistant District Attorney. At the time of his passing, he was a Senior Attorney for the Minnesota Department of Human Services, a role in which he continued to live his life in service of others.

   Sean’s personal life was as rich and fulfilling as his professional one. His most recent place of worship was at the Eagle Brook Church in Apple Valley, he found solace and strength in his faith, which was a cornerstone of his existence. His life was a reflection of his belief in service, and he was often found volunteering his time or lending a helping hand to those in need.

   An outdoor enthusiast, Sean cherished his moments spent on the water or lounging on the beach, gardening and embracing the serenity and beauty of nature. Sean loved canoeing and kayaking with his friends.  His love for travel allowed him to explore new vistas and cultures, enriching his life with experiences and memories. He found joy in the companionship of his beloved cats, Sophie and Livy, who were a source of comfort and unconditional love.

   Sean is survived by his devoted parents, John and Judy Froelich; his brothers, Darren (Stephanie) Froelich of Tomah, WI, and Eric (Leah) Siltberg Froelich of Minneapolis, MN; his sister, Elizabeth Froelich of Milwaukee, WI; nephews, Scott (Shawnna) Froelich of Eau Claire, WI, Arthur, Harold, and  Harvey Froelich, and niece, Francis Froelich all of Minneapolis, MN; his former wife, Heather Moyer, along with other relatives and friends.

   Sean was preceded in death by his grandmother, Berneice Hunter; his grandparents, Warren H. Froelich and Margaret Froelich; and a great aunt, Margaret Grant.

   Described by those who knew him as kind, intelligent, and faith-filled, Sean’s legacy is one of unwavering commitment to his faith and his community. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

   Funeral Services for Sean will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah.  Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Tomah.  Family and friends are invited for visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
