BOYS SOCCER: Tomah splits pair at Menomonie quad

Posted

With a new high school boys soccer season officially underway, the Tomah Timberwolves found themselves on two different ends of a shutout to begin their year.

Tomah split a pair of games at a quad in Menomonie on Tuesday, losing their first game to New Richmond before bouncing back and handing the host Mustangs a defeat.

The Tigers scored a first-half penalty kick and rode that to a 1-0 win over the Timberwolves. Tomah recovered well against Menomonie, dictating much of the game but unable to find the back of the net in the first half.

They finally got their breakthrough in the 67th minute when Bronson Roose scored his first varsity goal. Just two minutes later, in the 69th minute, Rushawn Russel doubled the Tomah lead with a goal of his own en route to a 2-0 victory for the Timberwolves.

Tomah head coach Scott Conzemius highlighted the performance of Caden Haun in limiting Menomonie “to only a handful of chances from distance.”
