CASHTON-William “Bill” S. Olsen, 79, of Cashton, entered into rest on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024 at his home. He was born on April 16th, 1944 in Sparta, WI to Egon and Hilda (Sherpe) Olsen. He grew up in Sparta and graduated from Sparta High School in 1962.

He traveled and worked as a crane operator for the Railroad, retiring after 30 plus years of dedicated service, eventually settling in Cashton, WI.

Beginning in his early years, you could regularly find him at the local tavern playing pool with his good buddies (and he had a lot of them). He was a steadfast stock car race fan and very involved in the racing circuit. He was right at home at the West Salem Speedway. He was also an avid hunter, a lifelong member of the NRA and Rod & Gun Club. Over many years, he had accumulated an impressive and prized collection of firearms.

He never missed an opportunity to take his dear friend, Charlotte and her camera, for long ride through the country, either by car or motorcycle to enjoy nature, the Amish communities, and the rolling hills. He will always be remembered for his generosity. He gave freely and without hesitation to those in need; friends, family or strangers.

Bill is lovingly survived by his children, Celeste Weinzirl of Eau Claire, WI, Michael Earl of Colorado Springs, CO, Kimberly Robinson of Pittsboro, IN, and Julie (Glen) Arnold of Pittsboro, IN; grandchildren, Robert Earl-Mullins, Patrick Earl, and Edwin Earl; great grandchildren, Keeler Seals, Liam Earl, and Hayden Earl; niece and nephew, Hannah Olsen and Jacob Olsen of Sparta, WI; and other relatives and best friend, Charlotte Stockel.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Egon and Hilda (Sherpe) Olsen; brother, Robert Olsen; nephew, Lucas Olsen; and grandchildren, Daniel Scheuttig and Andrew Scheuttig.

A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Saturday, June 15th, 2024 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta. Private burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sparta.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to: Gain Music Academy, 123 West Busby St, Lebanon, IN 46052, (memo: Andrew Scheuttig Memorial Scholarship). Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com
