SPARTA - Carolyn R. Klein, 81, of Sparta, died on Monday, December 11, 2023 at Serenity House in Tomah. She was born on August 17, 1942 in Stonefort, IL. She grew up in Marion, IL and graduated from Marion High School.
Carolyn attended college, and later graduated from Viterbo University with a degree in Religious Studies. She married William M. Klein on June 5, 1968 in Harrisburg, IL. After marriage, they moved to Sparta.
Carolyn was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sparta and was a lay-minister. She was also a life member of VFW Auxiliary Post 2112, and worked with the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, in La Crosse. Carolyn was also passionate about environmental and conservancy causes.
Carolyn is survived by her son, Mark (Kari Nesseth Klein) Klein of Barron, WI; grandchildren, Melissa Roberts of Birmingham, AL, Bryce (Sharolyn) Nesseth of Stevens Point, WI, and Nora Klein of Coleman, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Klein; sister, Sandra Lee; and daughter, Lynne Eigenmann.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 18, 2023 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sparta, with Father Eric Berns officiating. Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday in Northern WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spooner, WI.
Family and friends are invited for visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday at the church. In lieu of flower, donations may be made to Mississippi Valley Conservancy mississippivalleyconservancy.org/
