SPARTA - Robert “Bob” Anthony Abbinante, 60, of Sparta, WI, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Mayo Health Medical Center in La Crosse, WI.
Robert was born to Vito and Shirley (Romano) Abbinante in Chicago, IL, October 25, 1963. He graduated from high school and began his first career as an electrician, working alongside his father.
Robert’s second career involved his love of music and he became known as “Robert Anthony, DJ.” He loved entertaining people with music and telling stories on air. His third career has been very fulfilling. Robert has been working at Theisen’s Home Farm Store in Sparta for several years. He has enjoyed making friends that will be forever dear to him.
Linda O’Meara came into town and knocked Robert off his feet. He and Linda enjoyed nature walks, watching films and Netflix series, fine dining, dancing and listening to music and endlessly fascinating conversations on music, history, poetry, and culture; and seeing who could make the other laugh the hardest.
Robert is survived by his partner, Linda O’Meara of Richland Center, WI; brothers Vito “Vic” Jr. of IN. and Richard, of IL; loving nieces and nephews Vito (fiancé Jennifer), Ian, Noah, Jocelyn, Livia, Steven (Harmony); great-nieces, Vito and Jennifer’s daughters, Penelope and Sophia; great-nephew, Steven and Harmony’s son, Riker; sisters-in-law Viena (Steven) Lejeune, and Justina (John) Wallace; his ex-wife and friend JJ Abbinante; his beloved cat Lita; along with other relatives and many special friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Vito and Shirley; brother, Ronald; infant twin sisters, Mary Catherine and Catherine Mary; and sister-in-law, Connie.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 14, 2023, 7:00 P.M. at Torkelson Funeral Home, 1132 Angelo Road, Sparta, WI 54656. Pastor Randy Williamson will officiate. Family and friends are invited for visitation Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
