The Cashton Eagles played a couple of four-set matches on back-to-back nights to start this week, ultimately splitting the difference on the results.
To kick things off, Wonewoc-Center took down the Eagles 25-13, 25-18, 20-25, 25-18 Monday, October 4 in Wonewoc.
Stats leaders for the Eagles included Braylee Hyatt with seven kills, four aces, 10 digs and two blocks, Taylor Lukaszewski with seven kills and nine digs, Taylor Bayer with three aces and two blocks, Paige Olson with nine digs and Sydney Helgerson and Ella Brueggen with eight assists each.
Cashton recovered the next night to down the Necedah Cardinals 25-17, 25-19, 20-25, 25-11 Tuesday, October 5 in Necedah after the Cardinals lost a four-set match the day prior at Brookwood.
Stat leaders in this match for the Eagles included Hyatt with 20 kills, 14 digs and seven blocks, Olson with seven kills, 17 digs, four blocks and two aces, Bayer with four kills, three blocks and 10 digs, Helgerson with 17 assists and two aces, Teagan Hundt with four kills and Brueggen with 15 assists.
The Eagles will next welcome in Royall for a Scenic Bluffs match Thursday, October 7 at 5:15 p.m. prior to the football game between the two schools.
Bangor continues dominance with sweep of Royall
The Bangor Cardinals continued their dominant march through Scenic Bluffs play and moved to 10-0 against league competition with a win over Royall.
The Cardinals swept the Panthers, who were coming back off a COVID-19 pause, 25-22, 25-11, 25-22 Tuesday, October 5 in Bangor.
Leading the way for Bangor was Madisyn Herman with 15 kills and four aces, Aliyah Langrehr with 25 assists, Taylor Jacobson with 25 digs and Madelyn England with four blocks. Royall’s Marah Gruen finished the night with eight kills.
Royall defeated New Lisbon 3-1 Wednesday night.
