TRACK & FIELD: Tomah wraps up indoor track season in Eau Claire

The Tomah Timberwolves wrapped up the indoor portion of their 2024 track season with a flurry of strong performance at the 2024 Eau Claire North Varsity Indoor Invite. The meet was hosted at the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire's McPhee Center on Thursday, March 28.

Of all the Tomah athletes, senior Zandrea Mason had the best showing with a second-place finish in the girls' 55-meter dash with a time of 8.01 seconds. Mason also placed fourth in the long jump with a mark of 14 feet, 3.5 inches.

The Tomah girls also had freshman Cadence Scholze in third (29.53) in the 200-meter dash, senior MaKayla Ueeck in third (1:08.44) in the 400-meter dash, senior Josie Bailey in fifth (7-6) in the pole vault and seventh (6:41.08) in the 1,600-meter run and sophomore Alexa Moore in seventh (10.98) in the 55-meter hurdles.

The quartet of sophomore Ruby Joyce, freshman Camryn Steele, Moore and Scholze took third in the 800-meter relay with a time of 2:01.39.

The Tomah boys were led by senior Trent Lord placing third (58.03) in the 400-meter dash and freshman Tyler Boettcher finishing in third (5:09.38) in the 1,600-meter run. Lord and Boettcher were each part of a quartet that also featured sophomore Cale Ollendick and freshman Kyan Nelson that came in third in the 3,200-meter relay with a time of 9:35.49.

The group of Lord, freshman Aiden Evans, sophomore Shon Abbas and sophomore Michael Zastoupil posted a time of 4:05.18 to wind up in seventh in the 1,600-meter relay.

Other scoring finishers for the Timberwolves were Abbas in fifth (6.98) in the 55-meter dash, sixth (36-5) in the triple jump and eighth (25.78) in the 200-meter dash, Nelson in eighth (2:27.14) in the 800-meter run and Ollendick in eighth (12:41.50) in the 3,200-meter run.

In the team standings, the Tomah girls were fifth with 39 points and the Tomah boys took seventh with 30 points. Menomonie placed first in both teams standings, with the girls accruing 196 points and the boys accumulating 132.5 points.
